The adaptation of Szabolcs Hajdu’s play, entitled Ernelláék Farkaséknál, to movie is a rare story of succes: the low-budget film made by the director’s family, in his own home, in a short time has won in 2016 the Crystal Globe of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, as well as the award for best male lead actor and was awarded with several recognitions at the Hungarian Film Critics event. The film screening will be followed by an open discussion with the filmmakers.

Ernella, Albert and their 10-year-old daughter, Laura, have left the country a year ago in hoping to get a better life, but they do not prosper in Scotland, so they return home. They arrive in the middle of the night at Ernella’s sister, Eszter. Eszther is living with her husband, Farkas and their 5-year-old boy, Bruno, under better existential circumstances than Ernella and her family, who are struggling with serious financial problems. There has never been real harmony between the two families. This is felt only by Eszter, Ernella and her family like being at Eszter, even if they disagree with nearly everything. The question is how and how long can the two families endure each other in Eszter’s apartment.
