An Iceberg of One’s Own – printing techniques, workshop with visual artist Ferenc Gróf (HU/FR)

The workshop will give participants an insight into some of the printing techniques used by the artist duo Gróf-Gyenes. Using stamps and printing blocks – which were also used to create the exhibited works entitled Proposal For A New Flag (Meander) and Iceberg 1, 2 – we will create textile and paper-based graphic works reflecting on the issues raised by the exhibition, which draws inspiration from diagrams, infographics and political slogans of ecological and economic hopelessness.

You will also have the option of printing a white t-shirt or bag – either brought from home or bought on the spot. Although the acrylic paint we will be working with is less durable, don’t let that put you off!

Prior to the workshop, the opening of the exhibition entitled An Iceberg of One’s Own will take place on the 10th of October from 19:00 in the MAGMA Contemporary Art Space, featuring the works of textile designer Zsófia Gyenes and visual artist Ferenc Gróf. There is no age limit and participation is free but places are limited.
The workshop will be held in Hungarian, Romanian, English and French.
