Youth theater workshop

Giuvlipen means feminism in Romani, and is also the name of Romania’s first independent Roma feminist theatre company. This Bucharest-based collective now invites young people in Saint George to take part in a very special theatre workshop!

During the workshop, participants will talk about the body, about boundaries, about safety, about how to tell their stories and how to learn to say no.

In a safe, dynamic space, participants will explore themes such as storytelling, consent, (unequal) power relations, artistic expression and critical thinking, as well as the histories of marginalised communities.

The workshop is based on participatory theatre techniques: through physical exercises, collective improvisation, role-play, and guided reflection, it encourages young people to express themselves and think collectively. The ultimate goal is to establish a culture of consent in schools and within wider communities.

The workshops will be held in Romanian and are led by Kimberly Vintilă and Renata Teodora Cule.
