Insectotròpics: Orpheus (ES)
Because dying is already a thing of the past…
Insectotròpics, a groundbreaking performing and visual arts company from Barcelona, has made a name for itself with bold performances that blend theatre, video, music, and visual arts into an innovative, multidisciplinary experience. They will present Orpheus at pulzArt 10, likely their most intimate creation yet.
Insectotròpics reimagines the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice by exploring love, life, and death with a futuristic twist. Orpheus, a legendary musician and poet whose melodies can bend nature and emotions, loses his beloved Eurydice to death. He plunges into despair but then hacks his way into the afterlife using Spiritcom, a virtual immersion machine, to bring her back. Reality melts into the metaverse and myth collides with technology in a bold rethinking of how love and grief play out in a virtual world. The story asks: is it worth it to trick death with the help of technology, or is mortality, living moment by moment the ultimate work of art? Let everyone decide for themselves after the show.
