This year’s edition of pulzArt invites its audience to explore diverse musical worlds. The performance of the Hungarian Saint Ephrem Men’s Choir on the 15th of September promises a unique concert experience. The old and new musical forms and techniques come together in their performances.

From ancient Byzantine musical hymns to melodies dressed in modern sounds, the audience will embark on a journey through wondrous musical realms. The concert will feature both sacral and secular music. Be sure not to miss out on the Ephrem experience!

The Saint Ephrem Men’s Choir, which has received numerous awards and recognition, defines itself as a spiritual atelier where members draw inspiration from each other’s personalities, vocal abilities, and diversity.

Hungary’s most popular vocal ensemble was founded in 2002 by Tamás Bubnó, a recipient of many prestigious awards. Initially specialising in the highly diverse music of Byzantine Christian rites, the eight members of the Saint Ephrem Men’s Choir achieved great success locally and internationally with this repertoire. This path led them directly to the previously unknown but incredibly rich male choir works of Franz Liszt, and later to the ingenious pieces composed for male choir by Béla Bartók.

Through performances at numerous prestigious local and international festivals, several contemporary composers heard and appreciated the unique sound of the Saint Ephrem Men’s Choir, resulting in several compositions being written for the choir. A Saint Ephrem concert is incomplete without the rendition of modern and contemporary musical compositions.

The eight-member ensemble regularly performs in Hungary and around the world. They have released thirteen albums. The ensemble members are versatile chamber singers who create transcripts, adaptations, and original works for the Saint Ephrem Men’s Choir.
