Calligraphy workshop with Sorin Trăistaru
At daytime, Sorin Trăistaru is an artistic director, while during the night, he is a calligrapher. One year in winter, he got from Santa Claus a set of pens, pen nibs and an inkstand, and ever since, writing and font drawing has become a passion for him. Almost every surface represents a blank page for him, and his artworks can be found both on glass, wall or fabrics. For two years, he has been organising and holding calligraphy workshops, where he tries to make participants forget everything they used to learn at school about calligraphy.
For the 4th edition of pulzArt Festival, Sorin is coming with an interesting calligraphy combination. Throughout the 4 days of intensive workshop, he will offer participants a glimpse of two calligraphy stiles. We might as well be acquainted with gothic writing (textura quadrata) from manuscripts dating back to the 1400’s, or if not from there, from the labels of bitters or some beers, for sure. The so-called brush lettering style is a modern one, which is mainly used in logos and posters. These two combined, however, offers some impressive, creative and exciting effects.
Participation fee: 160 RON, participants can enrol by contacting kultura@sepsi.ro
